Just arrived in-store! This fabulous coffee is decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Method, a 100% chemical-free process. The result is coffee beans saturated with natural flavours. So, is our water quality improving to the point that we can safely use it? Hopefully so.
Can we rely on and trust the municipality to consistently deliver good quality water in the future?
With the current drought and poor management of our water resources, we may have further water supply issues going into the holiday season.
We made a decision some time ago to install an expensive water filtration system in our store as good water is imperative for the inner workings of our espresso machines. Not to mention the flavour of our coffee.
We did not however expect such a drastic decline in water quality. Having spoken to the folk at Oasis about the technical issues, and costs of running their reverse osmosis plant using municipal water, we decided to rather purchase water from them and plumb it directly into our commercial espresso machine.
We opted for an automatic Flowjet water pump system. Super easy to install. When in place, simply and add mineralised water to your container. Because all the minerals have been extracted during the filtration process, we add a few shop-bought minerals to the water container. A very simple process.
We have stock of the Flowjet. Pop in or call me and I'll walk you through the installation and mineral recipe.

WONDERFUL news for Coffee Connoisseurs.

Our first batch of speciality coffee from C & P Roasters in Mossel Bay has arrived. Their coffee beans are meticulously roasted in small batches in-house. Taha and Malaika have crafted 3 special blends for Flat Lizard & Co.

Cape St Blaize Dark Roast, Gericke’s Point Medium Roast and Lighthouse Medium Roast. This is craft roasting at its best.

The feedback from our customers has been very good. Coffee methods including Long Blacks, Cortados, Flat Whites and Cappuccinos have all been great.

We’re so chuffed to represent C & P Roasters. Welcome Taha and Malaika!

We also had a surprise visit from our suppliers of Gaggia and Lelit coffee brewing machines and Presso brewing equipment and accessories. Expect to see a wider range of equipment in our store in the next few weeks.

If you haven’t already visited us, we have different coffee blends and a decaf to choose from daily. They change as the hoppers empty. It’s a bit like attending a wine tasting, just no sour notes…..

Three weeks ago we received our first delivery of Speciality Coffees from Maria’s Coffee in Graaff-Reinet. We stock their Tandjiesberg, Camdeboo and Karoo Veld beans and capsules (Nespresso compatible). All are Medium Roast, smooth and full-mouth tasting.

Maria’s has been a great hit with our coffee connoisseurs.

And more EXCITING news. Soon we’ll be stocking fine Craft Coffees from C & P Roasters in Mossel Bay. Their coffee beans are meticulously and consistently roasted in small batches in-house. Taha and his daughter Malaika certainly know how to roast. And the knowledge and enthusiasm they impart is infectious. Do visit their Roastery & Café in Church Street when next you’re in Mossel Bay.

Taha popped into Flat Lizard yesterday and kindly dropped off a few packets of beans for tasting. We have their Dark Roast Hartenbos blend, Medium-Dark Decaf Sunset roast and Medium Roast Espresso blend. They are very tasty.

We’ll prepare a 20g double-shot Flat White, Cappuccino or Long Black from these packets at R25 per cup. Pop in for a Mouthful of Flavour.

We’re not talking coffee this week, but the Sedgefield Community spirit which continues to amaze us as relative newcomers to this beautiful part of South Africa. The genuine smiles and greetings, and the generosity and selfless work and contribution by so many ordinary folks helping those less fortunate is again, amazing.

Through our shop and social groups we are fortunate to interact with many of these wonderful volunteers.

Right now, the cast of the SEDGEFIELD MELODRAMA, ‘MY AFRICAN DREAM’ are rehearsing. Hundreds of volunteer hours go into a production like this. And it really is a fantastic show. So let’s support them so that they can continue to support others less fortunate than us.

The organisations that will benefit this year from funds raised, include the Rondevlei Learning Centre, Laärskool Sedgefield Primary, COP Sedgefield, NSRI Wilderness and Sedgefield Lions (who in turn fund many other organisations). Depending on funds raised, Sedgefield Melodrama may fund other causes too.

Tickets are still available. And there is a special for any Tuesday night booking – buy any 5 tickets and receive a free (sponsored) bottle of wine at the door. Book a table with a bunch of friends and have a great evening. Last year was a blast!
