As a family owned and operated eatery, we serve authentic Korean cuisine and delicacies with a hand of mom’s cooking. Kimchi, tofu and majority of sauces and marinades are made in-house with pride. In addition, we have indoor grills equipped on each table to enhance the flavour of bulgogi, samgeopsal and galbi for a perfect Korean BBQ night out!

Did you know that our kimchi, mandu, tofu and sauces are all made in-house? In fact, they are still made by our Umma (mom), just as they have been since Banchan first opened.

It takes much more time and money to make these homemade, but it means we know exactly what goes into every dish we serve. From fermenting kimchi to folding mandu and making our sauces from scratch, it’s all part of what happens behind the kitchen doors every day.

Making all of these by ourselves may not be the easiest way, but it’s the way we’ve always done things.

In Korea, we often ask ‘Have you eaten?’ when what we really mean is ‘How are you?’ or ‘Are you okay?’
It is one of the simplest ways we show care. We ask, feed, and we even pack something extra. We tell someone to eat before they leave.

Historically stemming from periods of famine and poverty, food is the ultimate love language in Korea today. Sharing a meal represents connection, community, and affection. So, asking if someone has eaten is simply a quiet way of saying: “I care about you.”

Now that 2026 is underway, we want to take a moment to look back and say thank you.
To everyone who walked through our doors in 2025 for everyday meals, quiet catch-ups (either with yourself or your loved ones) and special occasions…
Your support is the reason Banchan continues to exist.

We’re also grateful for our staff who showed up day after day, often behind the scenes, making sure everything runs smoothly.

2025 was a full year for us “because of you”.
As we move further into 2026, we’ll keep doing what we have always done. We will keep serving good food with care.
