I, Petra Carle was born in Heilbronn, southern Germany. We immigrated to South Africa in 1966 and I grew up in Johannesburg. At home my parents maintained a German upbringing, so I never lost touch with the culture and cuisine. Travelling was a big part of my life in the 90’s, working not only in Iceland, but travelling and working in the catering industry throughout Europe & owning a successful Restaurant/Coffee Shop in Brisbane, Australia. I moved to Robertson from Johannesburg just over 2 years ago and am loving it in the W**e Valley. I have a passion for food, enjoy cooking with fresh ingredients, creating new ideas and offering my customers delicious and exciting dishes. In the past 2 years I have been attending markets in the surrounding area and have had very positive feedback. I have several homemade products and source my meat and deli items from reputable outlets in Cape Town. Myself and Matthew, your hosts and chefs, are very excited in opening the German Bistro & Deli and are looking forward to create a delectable fusion of European cuisine to entice the taste buds our customers with food of a different calibre.
