Booking is essential for lunch. Etterby is owned by Pam Pellowe, a descendent of one of the original settler families. Etterby is situated in a magnificent, luscious garden setting in Byrne Valley, just outside Richmond. This vast garden is every photographers dream, with so many stunning plants, trees and flowers to capture on film, not to mention the interesting nooks and crannies hidden within the garden. One simply cannot help but feel rejuvenated and relaxed after visiting this tranquil place... Etterby is very popular with the Harley/Bikers clubs for breakfast run breakfasts. Pam is also willing to make up picnic baskets and take-away lunches (by prior arrangement) if you wish to have a family picnic in the area. Cornucopia Gift Shop on the premises is definitely also worth a visit - Pam makes all her own preserves, chutneys, sauces, relishes and even liqueurs which are for sale here as well as many home crafted sewn and knitted products. DIRECTIONS: Travel from Pietermaritzburg to Richmond on the R56 (approx 40km). At the first Richmond turnoff (signposted Richmond Hospital and Durban Road), turn right. Carry on for 4.4km to Shepstone St. Turn right to Byrne. After 1.4km turn right again into Byrne Valley. Continue until you see the sign Byrne Valley, turn right in Market Street, follow this road to Etterby Tea Garden, 8 Market Street.
