Vondeling’s wines are born from carefully tended vineyards on the slopes of the Voor-Paardeberg, including old-vine Chenin Blanc planted in 1986 and Sauvignon Blanc planted in 1983, which bring remarkable depth and character to the wines. At Vrymansfontein, three hectares of young vines grow on the slopes of Paarl Mountain.

| Our signature Date Night at SCAPE is an invitation to slow things down, share an intimate table and enjoy an evening built around fine cuisine and Vondeling wine. For R950 per couple, choose two starters, settle in over a generous main to share, and finish with two desserts, accompanied by a bottle of Vondeling Petit Rouge or Petit Blanc.

Whether it is a long-overdue night out or a first date worth lingering over, SCAPE makes Thursday evenings feel a little more considered.

SCAPE | Who are we? We are a modern Winelands restaurant, sophisticated and grounded in our Vrymansfontein setting. A wash of muted colours at home with the surrounding farmland, a bank of windows that takes in a panoramic vista of the Paarl Valley, an open kitchen built around a wood-burning grill and a stylish dining room built for comfort.

The only rule about eating here is that there should be no rules. Built for choice, we have an á la carte menu that gives guests freedom of choice: to pack the table with farm-to-table dishes like smoked aubergine Romesco or beef cheek terrine, or order from our grill, a showcase for grass-fed Angus and Wagyu beef – or better yet, a mix of both.

We are also home to Vondeling Wines, sustainably-guided maker of wonderful wines. So you can expect good wine as well as great food and hospitality.

Sommelier Armand Ridgard has chosen seven wines as sippable talking points in an intimate exploration of this big and bold region whose hallmark is experimentation. The wines will be paired with a savoury 3-course winter season menu from Head Chef Anthonie van Zyl.
