Alkmaar Draai is located on the N4 loop in Alkmaar, which is in the Schagen Valley, 10km West of Nelspruit (Mbombela), in the beautiful Mpumalanga province. Formerly known as the Golden Spot Resort, this charming gem has a rich history of over 80 years in the hospitality industry. Alkmaar is a small community on the Crocodile River and named after a city in the Netherlands, which is well known for its traditional cheese market. This small town in South Africa is a perfect location for game-viewing being on the Crocodile River and near to the Kruger National Park. The current owner, Sonja Wentzel, decided 3 years ago to make her dream of owning an events venue a reality, and purchased the property in 2018. Alkmaar Draai offers rustic accommodation for long-term residents and affordable accommodation for contractors, and a convenient retail centre which caters for anyone’s basic requirements. The premises boasts a bohemian indoor and outdoor wedding and function facility, under a canopy of trees overlooking the valley with a fairytale-like mountain in the background. Staying true to the core business in the Schagen Valley, FastCrops Nursery established their Macadamia nursery on Alkmaar Draai, which produces up to 80,000 grafted and ungrafted Macadamia seedlings annually.
