Nouri Nom is celebrated by Hindus on 16 August this year ππΌ
We have opened up orders for Juwaar Rotla and you can call us on 084 274 7777 to place orders π«
Nouri Nom is celebrated by fasting and eating only mung dal or vadoo(assorted sprouts) with juwaar or bajra rotla . It has been celebrated for many different reasons based on old folk tales. Each of those tales have a common theme- We see this day as a ritual to help us humble ourselves. To understand and observe the interconnectedness with nature and our dependence on Mother Earth.
TLDR;
This festival is generally associated with Goddess Sitala πΈπΎ who is the protector of children π€±π½and remover of disease π
π½ββοΈ. Couples who are newly parents, wanting to conceive or expecting, usually observe this fast π¨βπ©βπ¦
Goddess Sitala is often depicted as the ugly, dirty and poor form of the divine π€ Her avatar depicts the famine, the dirty and the ugly that we humans often have to come to terms with. She is historically riding on a donkey π΄ (representing destruction, devastation and infertility) and carrying a broomπ§Ή (the broom symbolizes the transformation of chaos into order).
She teaches us to face the chaos.
