Looking back at yesterday’s poultry workshop, I can truly say it was a success!
Despite the cold weather, about 70 people came out, with people from around Seoding Village showing up in numbers to gain knowledge, engage and learn. It reminded us of something very important: sometimes we may think people don't need these kinds of initiatives, but the truth is that there are people who would do anything for access to knowledge and opportunities to learn.
Yesterday showed us just how hungry our communities are for knowledge. What I loved most was the level of interaction — people asked questions, shared their experiences, made suggestions and actively participated throughout the programme. We heard your suggestions, and we want you to know that we are listening. We will do our best to implement the ideas shared, especially those that can contribute to the growth and sustainability of the JTG Poultry Show initiative.
A special thank you to Kgothatso Tlholonyane and the Department of Agriculture for their continued support of our workshops. Your presence and contribution are truly appreciated. We were also pleased to have members from different unions across our district join us, and to welcome SEDFA, who took the opportunity to introduce their services and explain how community members can benefit from their support.
We would also like to extend our appreciation to Breeze Stillwater for always making sure that our attendees are refreshed at our workshops. Your continued support means a lot to us.
To Kgothatso Tlholonyane, thank you for your support, for capturing content throughout the day and, most importantly, for helping create an environment where people felt welcome and at home.
We also acknowledge our Vet in Seoding, who could not be with us as they were attending to FMD cases. We appreciate the work being done on the ground and sincerely hope that the situation is contained soon. We sympathise with everyone who has been negatively affected by the outbreak.
And to everyone who contributed towards making sure we had tea in the morning and lunch during the workshop, thank you. These may seem like small things, but they make a big difference in creating a welcoming space for learning and engagement.
We also took note of the small businesses and individuals who came through to sell their products, including those selling sweets and other items.
To our local entrepreneurs, we encourage you: please let us know beforehand what you sell when you are planning to attend our events. This will allow us to try and advertise your products on our platforms before the event and give more people an opportunity to know about your business. You never know — someone might just see your product, become interested and place an order. Who knows? 😊
We want our workshops to be more than just a place to learn about poultry. We want them to become spaces where people connect, businesses get exposure, opportunities are shared and communities grow together.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended. You braved the cold, you showed up, you participated, and you reminded us why we started this initiative in the first place.
