THEN ❤️ NOW
Some traditions never fade... they simply come full circle.
Many years ago, Katelyn and her mom would make The House Kitchen a regular stop whenever they came to Kenton-on-Sea for the school holidays. Those breakfast visits became a special family tradition and created memories for all to treasure.
Life has moved on, and Katelyn is now studying in Cape Town. Although it had been years since we'd last seen her, she recently popped in while in the area on a soccer tour with her team.
During her visit, she pulled us aside and shared the beautiful story of growing up with The House Kitchen as part of her family's Kenton holidays. She showed us an old photo of herself and her mom here all those years ago, and it truly warmed our hearts.
Not long afterwards, her mom stopped by for breakfast too and mentioned how Katelyn had visited us with her soccer team. It was such a lovely reminder that, after all these years, The House Kitchen still holds a special place in their hearts.
When Katelyn sent us the "Then & Now" photos, she simply wrote:
"Love this place so much! 🤗"
Those few words reminded us exactly why we do what we do.
There is no greater compliment than knowing we've become more than just a restaurant. To families like Katelyn's, we've become part of their holiday traditions—a familiar place to return to whenever they're in Kenton, where memories are made, revisited, and passed from one generation to the next.
Katelyn, thank you for sharing your story and your beautiful photos with us. And thank you to your wonderful mom for making The House Kitchen part of your family holidays all those years ago.
We can't wait to welcome you both back for many more breakfasts, coffees, and memories whenever you're in Kenton. 💛
