The brief? Make resin look like pouring red w**e...
We needed to create colour, movement and feeling. The end result? Once-off (and one of a kind) art for the w**e experience room situated in the One&Only Cape Town.

If you understand epoxy, you’ll understand the thinking and planning that went into making this resin look “3D” and super glossy so it resembled pouring w**e. 🍷 Given that epoxy is a self-levelling liquid, I put hours of experimenting into this.

I worked with some phemonimal people during this project, from architects to artists, but I want to make a special mention to Zane Pretorius who put in the long hours and head-scratching moments with me.

To my dad who help me pull this together in the final days, thank you and I love you.

This project has birthed a new creativity in me and a pivoting moment for Haus of Machines.

Nobu commissioned, we delivered.

The brief? “Make resin look like pouring w**e.” 🍷 The ex*****on? Three-dimensional depth suspended in resin perfection.

The stakes were high and the vision was uncompromising but our goal was to create epoxy art that demanded attention and we put our absolute all into this one. Stay tuned for the full project info.

Part 1 of this series.
Earlier this year, I was commissioned to create a one-of-a-kind art installation for the iconic One&Only Hotel at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

The process spanned weeks, carefully sourcing the right wood, testing and refining pigment tones to echo the depth of red w**e, and solving challenges along the way. Long days, tight deadlines, and unpredictable weather were all part of bringing this vision to life.

The final pieces were designed exclusively for the hotel’s new w**e experience room at Nobu.
