Café La Rose

I feel a little sad in announcing the sale of my beautiful little coffee shop, Café La Rose ... my baby. I put my heart and soul into this venture, birthed and got it going, and now it is time to hand it over to Margi White who has the time, expertise and enthusiasm to properly care for it and grow it into the beautiful child I envisaged a year ago when I started off on this adventure. It has been a wonderful time ... I have seen my baby take its first breath, it's first tentative steps ... it stumbled sometimes, but it got up pluckily and carried on while I attended to my first born...The Antique Rose Florist....

The time has now come to relinquish my precious toddler into the hands of a very capable mother while I take control of my first born....I have tried to be a good mother to this little one, I have given it of my best and I relinguish it with a little tear in my eye, but I look forward immensely to re-connecting with my flower business and giving it my undivided attention at all times.

I will be handing over my coffee shop to Margi White on 01 May... ... she will spend some time re-organising and will commence business towards the middle of May....I look forward to seeing my baby grow and flourish in Margi's care and I can assure you that exciting things are in store for you at 7 Mare Street !!!

Margi needs more space to grow her new venture and so I will be relinquishing The Antique Rose Florist space to Margi as well and will relocate my florist business back home, to 4 Amber Avenue....telephone numbers for the florist will remain the same 033-3303787 and 0795263940. Margi has indicated that she would like to stock and sell flowers from me - country bunches, posies, flowering potplants, arrangements etc and I look forward immensely, with all the extra time I will now have, to making up some really exciting options for you to choose from at Margi's new coffee shop !

I will continue to stock at 4 Amber Avenue, a large selection of flower containers of every description, oasis, florist wire, florist tape, etc etc and of course, fresh flowers ! and will once again be making my regular visits to Durban to buy only the freshest, best selection of flowers I can find ! I wish last but not least to thank my family, my customers and friends ... all you wonderful and kind people of Howick and further afield, for your amazing support and encouragement at all times. You have been fabulous and I thank you all from the very bottom of my heart ! My grateful thanks also to Kim, who stood by me in the early days - for your very hard work.... Gwen - for your bright ideas and encouragement - and my other staff....your loyalty and assistance was invaluable. And also my landlord Stephen ! If I have missed out anyone, please know I really appreciated you ! God bless you all !

We are back after our Easter break ... a wonderful time of rest and renewal and trust you had a good long weekend too !

After much reflection I have decided to no longer serve breakfasts and lunches and to concentrate on what I enjoy most...baking ! We aim to be the best "little" cake shop in Town ! So come along and enjoy a delicious selection of "little" cakes in beautiful surroundings...

Today we start off with a scrumptious selection of mini apple tarts, milk tarts, cute little chocolate cakes, mini quiches, scones with jam & cream ... and our barista Sbu looks forward to making you the best filter coffee, cappucino or plunger coffee ever ... or a pot of tea to go with your selection of cakes/tarts/scones ...

We look forward to hosting a group of approximately 20 ladies to tea later this week and the "Daisy Dooalot" craft ladies on Saturday ! If you love crocheting, come and learn new skills with these amazing ladies on Saturday afternoon from 2 -4pm !

I'm sorry for being so quiet on FB lately, been super busy !

I have rearranged the shop and have brought in lots of new stock, do come in and see !

We're having a little respite from the hot weather, in fact it's freezing cold here in Howick today ... good for flowers but not so good for humans !

Remember to keep your flowers away from heaters and air conditioners as this dries them out and shortens their lifespan, and standing flowers near a fruit bowl will also be detrimental; ripening fruit causes flowers to die prematurely ... and do top up your beautiful blooms with fresh water every day, some flowers are thirsty drinkers !

Hmmm....I made the most delicious spicy chocolate cake with orange butter icing today ... goes so well with cappucino :)

Psssst .... a customer remarked today that our cappucino is the best in Town !! She said she's been around all the coffee shops in Howick and ours is tops ! Yay ! Thank you Bev for this great compliment ! This must be due to our superior coffee blend and our new barista, Sbu ! Do pop in for the best cappucino in Town !
