With it being my Birthday AND Heritage Day next week, I wanted to share some of my heritage with you.. and also use it as inspo for the menu this weekend.
You can look forward to Italian Quiche, Cake Bars and Crostata Tarts on the menu this week. (More menu items to follow)
I think it must have been while visiting Italy that I "over glutened" myself π€£ but it was molto delizioso visiting my family in my (much π³) younger years π
I remember Anna's Asparagus Pasta
Floriana's homemade Pizza
Francesco's Ham (prosciutto) curing in his garage = the best prosciutto I've ever tasted ππΌ
And he also made his own grappa π₯π€―π
Elda made delicious espresso with Nutella and Melba Toast for breakfast every morning
It was such a lovely time π€π
And even in Italy we Sokkie π
A funny story during my second visit to Italy (sorry Berdene π€):
Our accommodation for the night fell through and we wondered through the streets of Rome the whole day long, waiting to hear about our accommodation.
We ended up sleeping at Rome's Train Station (that was the best solution we could come up with at the time π).
In the middle of the night, the Station manager came over to us and said that we must come with him, because his office will be much safer than sleeping on the stairs of the station
Yes I know. Berdene also thought that it was dodgy π€
I on the other hand, was happy to oblige. I threw out my towel on the floor and made myself comfortable, while the station manager said "Buona Notte" and fell asleep at his desk. Berdene, however, didn't sleep a wink that night (as you can see on the photo, not very amused π)
The following morning, I phoned Marco Polverini and arranged to go back to Arezzo and slept over with the family for a few nights before we went to Pisa.
Where I am ashamed to say, well not really π, we ate way too much pizza.
It was so buonissimo that we couldn't stop eating. We each had a whole pizza, and then we shared a third pizza π―π€«
But those were the days ππΌππ·
Thank you for going down memory lane with me... I'll post the rest of the menu tomorrow π°
