Protecting our bees means protecting our future.

Bees play a vital role in our ecosystems, supporting biodiversity and helping sustain the natural world around us. That’s why responsible and ethical beekeeping is so important.

At Simply Bee, we believe in working with our bees, not against them. From caring for our colonies to practising mindful honey harvesting, we strive to respect the bees and the essential role they play in nature. We also believe in creating a safe environment for wildlife, including our honey badgers, by using raised hives that help protect both bees and their natural predators.

Because ethical beekeeping is about more than honey. It’s about protecting our pollinators, respecting nature and ensuring that future generations can continue to benefit from the incredible work bees do every day.

Let’s give our bees the care and protection they deserve.

Have you spotted a Cape honey bee?

The Cape honey bee (Apis mellifera capensis) has a distinctive appearance, often recognised by its darker abdomen and beautiful, delicate wings. Native to South Africa’s Cape region, these little pollinators are perfectly at home among our beautiful fynbos.

Small in size, but incredibly important to our ecosystem, every bee has a part to play in the natural world around us.

Did you know that a honey bee produces just 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime? It can take visits to around 2 million flowers to produce 2.2 kg of honey, with every foraging trip helping pollinate the plants that sustain our ecosystems.

These incredible little workers show us just how much teamwork goes into every drop of honey.

Let’s celebrate our buzzing friends and remember the importance of protecting them and the beautiful world they help sustain.

Did you know that bees play a huge role in pollinating the plants that provide much of the food we enjoy every day?

As bees move from flower to flower collecting nectar and pollen, they transfer pollen between plants, helping fruits, vegetables and many other crops grow.

From the apples in your lunchbox to the vegetables on your dinner plate, these tiny pollinators have a much bigger impact on our food than you might realise.

So next time you enjoy a delicious fruit or vegetable, take a moment to thank a honey bee!

A little look back at some of the wonderful bees who have crossed our path.

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming many buzzing visitors, from bees passing through to colonies that have found a new home with us.

Every bee has a story, and every colony is a reminder of the incredible world that exists within the hive. We’re grateful for every opportunity to care for, learn from and work alongside these remarkable little creatures.

Here’s to the bees who have visited, stayed, and become part of our Simply Bee story.
