Join us at The Station on Tuesday, 28th of July for an intro to Urban Sketching with Danny!

"We will grab a cup of coffee and cookie; get a briefing; and be off. We will then regroup at 15.30 at The Station to wrap up.

Urban Sketching is a worldwide artform and there are clubs in Stellenbosch and Cape Town. Urban sketching aims to capture the zeitgeist of a moment very quickly, usually in an urban environment. Urban skechers draw the architectural built environment, people around them, flora and animals. But the cornerstone of the sketches are that they are done quickly, often whilst the artist is standing.

Sketchers use any medium that pleases them, usually it is mixed mediums. And usually it is done on a small format eg A5. The sketches may be reworked back in the studio or form the basis of a bigger artwork. Urban sketchers do not work from photographs, or create imaginary artworks. But their artworks will be personal - as the sketches are their interpretation of a scene."
