Pizza Hut Illovo The Pizza Hut Story begins in May 1958. Dan and Frank Carney opened their 550-squarefoot Pizza restaurant in Wichita, Kansas.

Dan and Frank, with friends Richard Beemer and John Bender, made the Pizza themselves . What was created was innovative, high quality and engaging, informal eating experience that thrived on the involvement of the buzzing community. Pizza Hut has grown rapidly and become well known for its famous "Pan Pizza" the product, with a thicker crust made in deep pans that has stolen the hearts of pizza lovers the world over.

Bonolo Makobe always knew photography was her passion. Her LeadHERship journey helped her learn how to turn that passion into possibility.

One of her biggest learnings was to think beyond what she loves doing and start asking bigger questions: What does the market need? Where can my skills add value? And how do I position myself to meet those opportunities?

That shift in thinking has helped Bonolo grow as a commercial photographer at Youth Content Collective — with a clearer understanding of not just her craft, but how to build a career around it.

For Bonolo, LeadHERship has been about gaining the perspective, structure and confidence to see just how far her passion can take her.

Gugulethu Sigiasa had never held a permanent job. She began her journey with low self-esteem and little confidence in what was possible for her.

Today, she’s an Industrial Relations Officer at Youth At Work, engaging 4,500 young people and the stakeholders who serve them.

This week’s LeadHERship story has a special connection to the programme behind the camera. 🎥

Tshegofatso Rakwena was part of the second cohort of the Pizza Hut LeadHERship Initiative.

Today, she’s built her own business as a Producer and Photographer, providing photography and video services to small businesses across a wide range of projects.

And now, Pizza Hut is one of her clients. 🍕

Together with the Youth Content Collective (YCC) team, Tshegofatso filmed the LeadHERship stories you’ve been watching this year.

For Tshegofatso, one of the most valuable things she took from the programme was learning how to receive constructive criticism, grow from it and take real pride in her work.

Now she’s putting those lessons into practice in a business of her own — while sharing her experience and advice with the young women coming up behind her.

From LeadHERship participant to business owner, creative professional — and now a partner helping us tell the next chapter of the LeadHERship story.

Before joining the LeadHERship Initiative, alumna Lebo Monama was at home. She had the ideas. She just didn't have the opportunity to bring them to life.

Since completing the programme, she's built a career as the Creative Director of a fashion house and works as a real estate agent. What changed, in her words, wasn't her ambition. It was believing that her ambition was valid.

"One small act changed my outlook on my whole life." 🍕

That's what the LeadHERship Initiative is all about. The talent is already out there. Sometimes, all it takes is someone opening a door.

Lindiwe Hlongwane knows the silence. CV after CV. Application after application. No response.
