As Executive Head Chef, Nicolette is predominantly responsible for the delicious cuisine that makes its way from the kitchen to the table, and Senior Sous Chef, Ilze Denner, works closely alongside Nicolette. Together they produce memorable flavours and presentation of Transkarooโ€™s dishes. Nestled between an old railway and a quiet lagoon in the tranquil town of Great Brak River on the Garden Route, Transkaroo was once an old railway station but since converted into an award winning restaurant, popular among locals and visitors from all over the world, offering the best traditional South African, home-style cuisine with a fine-dining twist. A unique dining experience that definitely won't leave you feeling hungry (or thirsty). Adding to the unique Transkaroo experience, is the visual wine collection. Instead of a traditional wine menu, you can physically pick up and view each bottle from the entire collection. Each wine has been hand selected by Nicolette and Johan who regularly visit the wine farms to make new selections as additions to the collection. There is something available for every level and every taste - from the beginner wine-drinker to the wine connoisseur. From rare high end to more modest wines, but undoubtedly always the best wine quality and taste experience. Servers are trained to guide you in selecting a suitable wine to pair with your meal.
