The original George Dam (also known as the Swart River Dam) was built in 1939 outside George in the Western Cape, South Africa. It feeds into the larger Garden Route Dam, which serves as the primary municipal water supply reservoir for the city. 💧

• Built in 1939 on the Swart River during World War II.
•Raised in 1955, though it historically suffered from slow leaks.
•Supplemented in 1980 by the construction of the downstream Garden Route Dam.Connected via the Swart River down to the Pepsi Pools area, eventually flowing into the main Garden Route Dam.
