How have I not tried this before? 🥩😄

I’ve just got back from visiting family in Denmark, and today I tasted our sirloin ‘plankie steak-style’ with chimichurri.

Now, I know our guests absolutely love our sirloin steaks, but honestly… I was blown away. So soft, so tender, and absolutely divine.

The plankie steak is joining our new lunchtime menu from Tuesday - and now I understand why some of our regulars order this every time they come in ❤️

Fancy trying it tonight? Order your sirloin served plankie steak-style, and we’ll include your choice of chimichurri or melted garlic butter on the house.

Karen also told me that quite a few of you asked for me while I was away. One guest even phoned Herman at home on Saturday night, asking where I was!

That didn’t just make me smile - it made my heart sing a little happy song.

I’m back, and of course, I’m working tonight. So if you fancy a nice meal and a catch-up, I’d love to see you!

He wanted to impress his date… so he brought her to Cattle Baron Durbanville. 🥩❤️

He grew up in the area. She had just moved to Durbanville from Gauteng. Her dad is a butcher, she loves her meat — and he knew exactly where he wanted to take her.

She ordered our Chateaubriand with marrow bones and asked me,
“I hope I chose something good?”

Before I could answer, he smiled and said:
“She doesn’t know yet that this is the place to go for the best steaks.” 😄

I told her I’d be back to check.

When I returned, she was beaming.

“I’m in meat heaven. My dad’s a butcher, and I have never had a steak this good.”

Now THAT is a compliment. 🥹

They stayed for dessert, moved to the bar, ordered another bottle of w**e, more marrow bones and more stuffed mushrooms — and she joked that she could live here. 🤣

And this is where Herman comes in.

He’s been cutting beef at Cattle Baron Durbanville for 22 years. Our beef is matured in-house, and our steaks are cut right here in our kitchen.

We know meat. We love steak. And we take it seriously.

There’s something special about gathering around the table on a Sunday, enjoying good food, great company and a little bit of everything you love.

Our chefs have a delicious spread planned for tomorrow, with plenty of traditional favourites!

René, is busy cooking away, the smell of roast pork is filling the kitchen, and we’re getting everything ready for your Sunday lunch.

On today’s buffet:

We all have our favourite meal at Cattle Baron, don’t we? 🥩❤️

Ever thought about trying something new, but ended up ordering your usual instead?

Well, last night, our lovely guests at Table 4 decided to be adventurous. They swapped their crumbed mushrooms for stuffed mushrooms and their Chateaubriand for our Carpetbagger.

The verdict? 'I can’t believe it’s taken me 17 years to try this. Absolutely amazing – the best steak ever'!

Yep, we had one very happy man last night 🥰
