Interesting developments in Cape Town with new rules for short term accommodation. Should landlords who rent out their properties exclusively for holiday makers pay commercial rates?
This will not apply to people who live on the premises and rent out part of their space or long term rentals.
It would certainly level the playing field for businesses and hotels who already have to pay commercial rates and public liability and other related costs...

It said the intended changes are aimed at improving compliance among short-term landlords who are required to pay commercial rates.
