This week's staff spotlight: Jackie, our front of house manager. She's been part of the Clementines family for 13 years — juggling bookings, looking after guests, and keeping the waiters sharp, all with a go-getter energy that makes her an absolute asset to our team.

Ask Jackie what to order and she won't hesitate: the oxtail stew. She's not alone either — Lomile and Mphosi back her up, and between the three of them that's decades of Clementines experience. If that's not a recommendation worth trusting, we don't know what is.

The perfect drink for spring? We've got you sorted!

Our Clementines Gin and Tonic on Tap has been a favourite for 9 years running - locally made for us by Natalie and Stephan Meyer from Red Stone Craft. Subtle, delicious, and endlessly refreshing, it's the kind of drink that makes a beautiful spring afternoon (or a lazy summer one) even better.

We are so happy to see more international travellers returning to Clarens. Since the quiet years of lockdown, we've watched our town slowly fill up with visitors from all over the world again, and it's a joy to welcome them through our doors. There's nothing quite like sharing a taste of local cuisine with someone experiencing it for the very first time.

Two dishes keep stealing the show with our overseas guests: our Springbok Carpaccio, served with mushrooms, capers and a fresh side salad, and our Ostrich Fillet, plated with a rich berry jus, golden wedges and roasted veggies. Proudly local and proudly ours!

For this Staff Feature we chatted to Lomile & Thethiwe - celebrating two women who've been the heartbeat of our kitchen for 16 years.

Lomile is our Head of Kitchen and resident grill master. Confident, outgoing, and completely in her element juggling a grill full of steaks at once — she lights up every time a guest tells her their steak was cooked exactly right. That's the whole job to her, and she's brilliant at it.

Then there's Thethiwe, our Head of Cold Kitchen. Softer spoken, but just as unstoppable. She's the last set of eyes on every plate before it leaves the kitchen, and the first to flag it if something's not quite right — sometimes with a message to us before the sun's even up. Second best has never been an option for her.

They might have different energies, but they share the same work ethic and standard: excellence, every single day.

They have both been at Clementines for 16 years! That's not just a job; that's a family, and we're so lucky to have them both. 🧡

Grateful, blessed, and proud are our three key words for this month.

The 1st of August marked 16 years of owning Clementines and we couldn't be prouder of this achievement. In a world where restaurants seem to come and go, we are so grateful that we have been able to withstand the test of time and continue to plate food and give you the dining experience that you keep coming back for.

We are proud of ourselves and of our excellent team of staff, some of whom have been here throughout all 16 years. We can't do any of this without them.

And lastly, but most importantly, we are so grateful to you for your continued support. So many of you started as customers and are now friends. Here's to the next 16 years at Clementines!

🍊PLEASE WE NEED YOUR HELP🍊
Clementines Restaurant Google review page has been attacked my an AI bot, it generates fake 1 out 5 reviews all day at a rate of about 4 an hour.
When we see them and report them to google as spam, they stop for 6 to 8 hours, and then start again.

We are asking if anyone has a contact at google or knows a computer wizz that could help us stop them, as they are very damaging to our business and google have done nothing so far.
Please could you also report them as spam for us, if you have time, as I hope the more people who report them maybe google will notice and do something.
We are not the only restaurant in Clarens being attacked by this bot.
