Accident benefit for the main insured person
Should the main insured person pass away due to an accident, like a car accident, or an unnatural cause, like drowning, before the 60th birthday and within 90 days after the accident, we will double the insured amount to a maximum of R20,000 without applying a waiting period (not su***de).
Spouse benefit
You can cover your spouse under the policy
Children’s benefit
Add your own, step- or legally adopted children and only pay one premium, no matter how many children you cover under the benefit
Parent benefit
You can cover up to four parents
Extended family benefit
You can add up to six other family members on the policy, like brothers, sisters, grandparents, foster children, grandchildren, in-laws, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and even an additional spouse and their children and parents
Survivor benefit
AVBOB will pay the chosen amount, on your death or the death of your spouse, in six equal monthly instalments - starting from the first of the month following the date on which the claim was accepted
Breadwinner benefit
(only applicable where the premium payer and main insured life is the same person).
If you are the main insured and the premium payer, when you pass away, your spouse, children and parents will keep their cover without further premium payments. If the policy is older than 10 years when you die, your extended family will also stay covered.
Waiting Period
WAITING PERIODS
The six-month waiting period
applies to all benefits for all insured persons
applies to any insured person who dies from natural causes
starts on the issue date of the policy
The six-month waiting period may be waived in part or in full if you can prove that
you took out funeral cover with another insurer
policy lapsed or was cancelled within 31 days before the issue date of your new AVBOB policy
The waiting period will be waived in part or in full based on the following calculation:
the difference between the six-month waiting period that applies to all AVBOB policies and the waiting period already served with the previous insurer
if your new AVBOB policy provides the same, or a less, funeral cover for the same insured persons on your previous policy.
