So where do I begin, im absolutely obsessed with food, I wake up and go to bed thinking about food, I dream about ways on how to prepare, eat and achieve inspiration in the most amazing meals # yes obsessed...
I grew up in a home where food was loved and cherished. My dad was my greatest ins
piration and used food to bring us together as a family. We "talked food"," cooked food" and "ate a whole lot of food". Food was the ultimate feel good, I remember enjoying my cereal with Chinese shrimp chips, yes, that's when my my weird and wacky tastebuds became alive. I remember growing up with not only Indian cuisine. Chinese cuisine was one of the favorites, my dad use to take us to Joburg and whenever that would happened we knew Chinese was on the list, ultimate heaven, crispy sweet and sour prawns, smokey chow mein and heavenly salt and pepper calamari, wow! I was only 7 years old and this was amazing, sorry not forgetting the shrimp chips that was on each plate of food. My shrimp chips would make me eyeball my family so no one would dare to take any because it was all mine and it was because I found myself mesmerized by those shiny pink shrimps drenched in a glossy Chinese sauce. Growing up my father had a rule, we each had a day to cook during the week. I remember on his days we all had to assist in the kitchen, well that's after I woke from my beauty sleep, the kitchen looked like a tornado had hit it, a tornado with the most amazing outcome, the best Sunday meal anyone could ask for, Green leafy salad with fat juicy olives, homemade sweet tangy coriander dressing, Chicken cooked to perfection with the most fresh aromatic herbs and spices. Clean, healthy and delicious food that was us. As important as food was to us, then I met my husband, it's like I stepped into another (zone) family that also loved food, the way we did, understood flavours and knew how important it was to have good food. I was there with two different families yet both so united by food. My love, connection and inspiration for food continues each and every day. I learn everyday, and grow each waking day with new ideas. From what I know now and what I knew before is separated by levels of experience. I will continue to grow, learn, respect and cherish all the food that I eat and prepare. Just that person who is mad about chow story!!! Eat and be merry is my motto!
