Mr Calamari was founded over 25 years ago by Johnny De Sousa, now known to many as Mr
Calamari The Seafood King. Along at his side, his wife Aldora joined his team to run the business in true Portuguese style. Johnny De Sousa was first inspired of the concept of a mobile caravan when he visited the
Green Point Flea market and realised that the true Portuguese flavours of traditional Fish and
Chips and Calamari were absent. He jumped
to the opportunity and began the mobile Mr Calamari. Today, many recognise the caravan, brand and
their passion for serving delicious flavours. Mr
Calamari has participated in many events, both
public and private. Their current events include
the Cricket at Saharah Park Newlands and
DHL Rugby stadium, several events at the Cape
Town Stadium, large music events, school fairs
and private functions. Mr Calamari has all the
legal food requirements and certificates needed.
