What a lovely weekend we had at Suzie’s Bed & Breakfast! ❤️

We had the privilege of hosting a wonderful couple who got married, and afterwards we enjoyed a proper lekker South African braai together. 🇿🇦🔥

These are the moments we love most at Suzie’s — good food, good company, celebrations and memories made around the table.

Now we’re heading into a full and busy week ahead, and we’re grateful for every guest who chooses to stay with us.

Some things in business — and in life — you simply cannot predict.

Last night we had guests staying with us from Germany, Namibia and Queenstown in the Eastern Cape, and right in the middle of it all, the electricity was switched off due to maintenance in the area.

But anyone who knows Aunty Suzy and the Suzie’s team knows one thing: we make a plan. 😄

No electricity? No problem.

Aunty Suzy got into the kitchen and prepared her delicious homemade bobotie, the candles came out, and what could have been a difficult evening turned into one of those special moments you cannot manufacture.

We all sat down to a delicious supper by candlelight, shared stories, laughed together and simply enjoyed the moment.

Tonight, our rooms are fully booked, our guest house is full of people from different parts of the world, and Suzie’s is once again full of new stories and new memories.

Hospitality is not about everything going perfectly. Sometimes it is about what you do when things don’t.

At Suzie’s, we make a plan — and we make our guests feel at home. ❤️

We are booked from 09:00–12:00 and will not be able to accommodate walk-in guests during this time.

Our venue is booked for a private function.

📅 Saturday, 19 September
We are fully booked for the entire day and will unfortunately not be accepting walk-in guests.

We recently had some very special guests from England staying with us at Suzie’s. 🇬🇧🇿🇦

They actually drove all the way from England down to Cape Town in this incredible 4x4 camper that they built themselves! 😀 What an adventure — and what an impressive vehicle.

We always enjoy meeting travellers with interesting stories, and this was definitely one for the books.

What a wonderfully busy weekend we had at Suzie’s! 🌿🏡

Our guesthouse was full, and it was such a pleasure getting to know our guests. We soon discovered that they were from Uncle W***y’s hometown of Calvinia—what a small world! These are the special connections that make hospitality so rewarding. ❤️

We also welcomed a group on Saturday and celebrated a beautiful 60th birthday with another group on Sunday. 🎉🎂

Now, as we step into a brand-new month, we’re feeling grateful, refreshed and ready for the busy weeks ahead.

For 75 years, Aunty Suzy has walked through life with strength, courage, faith, kindness and an extraordinary determination to keep moving forward.

She has given so much of herself — not only to her family, but also to the business community and to the many people whose lives have crossed her path. She has encouraged, supported, cooked, served, listened, welcomed and cared for people in a way that has made Suzie’s far more than simply a restaurant or business. It has become a place where people feel at home.

Behind Suzie’s is a woman who understood long before many others did that business is ultimately about people, relationships and community.

She is a woman of strength — someone who has faced challenges without losing her warmth, built with her own hands, stood beside her family through every season, and continued believing in what could still be achieved.

Aunty Suzy, your legacy is not measured only in what you have built. It is measured in the people you have helped, the family you have held together, the memories created around your tables, and the lives that are richer because you were part of them.

🎉🎂 HAPPY 77TH BIRTHDAY, UNCLE W***Y! 🎂🎉

Today at Suzie’s we celebrate a very special man — our Uncle W***y, who turns 77 today and is still going strong! ❤️

If you’ve visited Suzie’s, chances are you’ve met Uncle W***y. He’s the one who will come over to your table, introduce himself, start a conversation and, before you know it, you’re chatting like old friends. 😄

That’s just who he is.

He has a genuine love for people. Whether you’re a regular customer popping in for coffee, visiting us for the first time, or a guest staying at our Bed & Breakfast, Uncle W***y makes time for you. Everybody gets a greeting, everybody gets a conversation, and everybody is made to feel welcome.

Our B&B guests know him especially well. He’ll chat to them about Cape Town and South Africa, help them plan their day and sometimes even get into the kitchen and make their breakfast himself! 🍳☕😂

And then there are his tours! 🚐🌍

Uncle W***y doesn’t simply drive people from one attraction to another. He shares the stories, history, culture and people of the Cape. Our guests arrive as visitors, but very often leave feeling like they have spent the day with an old friend.

At 77 years young, he continues to welcome guests, entertain customers, conduct tours, tell stories, share his knowledge, dream up new ideas and keep all of us on our toes. 😂

Uncle W***y, your energy, friendliness and genuine interest in people are a huge part of what makes Suzie’s feel like Suzie’s.
