✨ WOMEN’S MONTH SPOTLIGHT | NICOLE BANTHAM ✨
This Women’s Month, we’re shining a light on the women behind the businesses, the dreams, the sacrifices and the stories that inspire us. 💕
Meet Nicole Bantham, the owner, baker and decorator behind Coco’s Delights, based in Mitchell’s Plain. 🧁
Nicole’s love for baking started at a young age. She would bake and sell cakes on the side, experiment with new decorating techniques and spend hours watching cake-decorating videos. What started with cakes for family events eventually grew into a passion for creating cupcakes and cake pops that add that extra special touch to celebrations.
In 2022, Nicole officially took the leap and started Coco’s Delights. With a background in Business Management and experience in HR, she combined her business knowledge with the creativity and passion she had always carried with her.
But Nicole’s journey hasn’t always been easy.
Between working an office job, running a growing baking business, raising her children and often parenting alone while her husband works in the army, she found herself trying to do it all.
Eventually, she made the difficult decision to pause her business and focus on her family — particularly ensuring that her autistic son received the support he needed.
And that pause taught her something important:
She doesn’t have to do everything at once.
After taking time to reassess her priorities and make sure her son’s needs were being met, Nicole realised something even more powerful — she wasn’t ready to let Coco’s Delights go.
Even while she was paused, customers were still asking for her cakes. And seeing how much people enjoyed and missed her baking reminded her that she had built something worth believing in. ❤️
Today, Nicole’s biggest “why” is her children. She dreams of building something that can create freedom and opportunity for her family — and one day, perhaps even opening her own little coffee and cake shop. ☕🍰
Her advice to women dreaming of starting their own businesses?
“Bet on yourself and believe in yourself.”
And we couldn’t agree more.
Nicole hopes to have Coco’s Delights officially up and running again by November, with plans to eventually expand beyond cupcakes and cake pops into personalised items and other creative products.

“Don’t let people around you convince you that you need to stay with the ‘safe’ job. Bet on yourself and believe in yourself. And remember, there are enough people in the world to support you — you don’t have to do it all by yourself.”
