Morning Everyone!

Trust you’re all doing well and keeping warm on this very windy Friday!

Just a little housekeeping as we head into the weekend.

September & October availability is now open, so please have a look at the available dates and get those important celebrations booked in..If you have any big events coming up birthdays, matric balls, anniversaries, baby showers, year-end functions or any other special occasions, now is the perfect time to get your orders in.

And remember, the earlier you book, the more time you have to pay your order off, which makes things a little easier on the pocket.

CHRISTMAS and yes, I said CHRISTMAS!
I’ll be posting our Christmas offer at the end of October, giving everyone plenty of time to plan, order and pay off their Christmas goodies.
Until we close for our annual break, I’ll still be available for all your meals, treats, desserts and cakes.

And for those who are new to the group: if you have an order that needs to be delivered during our closed period, that’s absolutely fine. We will still make arrangements to deliver those orders.

Thank you, as always, for supporting my little kitchen and allowing me to be part of your special moments. It truly means so much.
Wishing you all a weekend filled with peace, happiness, love and plenty of reasons to smile.

Stay blessed, everyone!

🎉 Hip hip hooray… Kai is 4!

Last week, sweet Kai celebrated his 4th birthday, and this year, he wanted a cake AND cupcakes!

If you’ve been around for a while, you might remember that last year, Kai celebrated with the cutest rainbow-themed cupcakes. Well, this year, he had a very specific request, a Bluey cake!

What a pleasure and honour it was for me to create this special cake for him. His grandmother ordered a vanilla cake, which I happily made… but then I thought, “Mmmm… what 4-year-old doesn’t love bubblegum-flavoured anything?”

So we gave the vanilla cake a little twist and went with bubblegum-flavoured icing instead. And apparently, according to the word on the street, the adults enjoyed it too!

Mission accomplished!

Thank you so much, Kai and family, for choosing Kitchen Something to be a little part of your special celebration. Your continued support means so much to us, and we’re absolutely delighted to hear that Kai had an amazing day filled with love, happiness and joy.

Here’s to another year of growing, smiling, celebrating and of course, CAKE!

Morning Everyone,

Trust you are all well and that life isn’t lifing too much at the moment!

The weekend is over and somehow, in the blink of an eye, we are almost in the last quarter of the year. HOW did that happen?

This weekend I’ll be making some baked goodies and moving into more spring type foods. That said, if you’re craving a curry or something a little more hearty, you can absolutely still order those, too.

I’m in the middle of changing a few things around with the business, but one thing is for sure, you still need your spoils and full bellies!

As always:

📌 Orders close Thursday
💰 Payment is due by Friday at 3pm (that’s when I shop)
🚗 Delivery is Saturday, unless arranged otherwise.

Have a look at the posters for what’s available this weekend. There will be limited quantities, so please get your orders in timeously to avoid disappointment.

And with Matric balls, weddings, celebrations and all the things happening this time of year, please don’t leave your special orders until the last minute. Get them booked early, tick one more thing off your to-do list and, where needed, you can start paying towards your order to make things a little easier.

As always, if you have any questions, just pop me a message.

Have a fabulous week, everyone. Make it the best one yet!

Good afternoon folks!

Have you tried this Black Forest Gâteau yet? 🍒

If not the check out the video and give it a go! Unreal 👌🏻

The Video - https://youtu.be/i6aQvaUBf5k

Recipe

Sponge

Preheat oven to 160C Conventional

6 Eggs
175g of Sugar
150g of Plain Flour
30g of Cocoa Powder
1tsp of coffee powder
1tsp of Baking powder
1 tsp of vanilla extract

I used a tall 8”baking pan. Line the bottom with a circle of parchment paper. No need to grease the sides. You can also use a springform

Bake for approximately 45 minutes or once the center is firm to the touch. Once baked turn the tin upside down and place on a cooling rack. Let it cool completely in the tin before removing. I just do this as a precaution to ensure that there’s no sinking.

Cherry filling

650g of fresh cherries pitted
50ml of water
50g of sugar
1 tbsp of lemon juice
30g of corn starch
3tbsp of water
3tbsp of Kirsch Schnapps/Kirschwasser

Rinse the cherries before pitting. Cut the them in half. You can leave them whole if you prefer. It all depends on size really. Place them in a pot with the 50ml of water, sugar and lemon juice. Simmer for a few minutes on a low-medium heat. once the juices release from the cherries, combine the cornstarch with 3tbsp of cold water in a small bowl or glass. Mix well with a fork then add to the pot. Stir well as it simmers for roughly 2-3 minutes. Remove from the heat and add 3tbsp of Kirsch. Transfer to a bowl or dish and cover with plastic wrap or greaseproof paper if you prefer. Once cool place in the fridge. You can do this the night before if you want

Kirsch Syrup

150ml of water
50g of sugar
75ml of Kirsch Schnapps/Kirschwasser

Dissolve 50g of sugar in 150ml of boiling water then add 75ml of Kirsch. Allow forgot to cool before using

The Cream

1 liter of fresh whipping cream (35-38%)
75g of Icing Sugar
1tsp of vanilla extract
1-2tsp of Kirsch

Whip until stiff. Chill the bowl in the fridge beforehand

Give it a go and if you have any questions just write them in the comments and I’ll do me best to get back to you!

Have a lovely week! fans

All the best

Travelling with a cake? Here's what you need to know!

One of the services we proudly offer is delivery on our celebration cakes, meals, treats, and desserts. When it comes to cakes, though, we always prefer to deliver them ourselves. It gives us peace of mind knowing your cake arrives safely.

That said, there are times when we're asked to deliver a cake to a customer's home, and then it's up to them to transport it to the venue the next day.

I'll admit... that's the part that makes me a little nervous!

Once a cake leaves my hands, I have no control over how it's handled. A beautiful cake can quickly become a not-so-beautiful cake if it's not transported or stored correctly.

So, to make things a little easier, I've put together a simple Cake Travel Guide with a few helpful tips to keep your cake looking just as amazing when it reaches the celebration.

Have a look through the guide below, save it for future reference, and feel free to share it with anyone who has a cake pickup coming up!

A little extra care goes a long way in making sure your cake arrives picture-perfect.
