This Friday, we’re shining the spotlight on one of our wonderful clients — La Cuccina — a Cape Town food business built around something wonderfully simple: good food, generous portions and making people feel at home. ❤️
Behind La Cuccina is Chef & Owner Ian Gersowsky, whose love of food began in his grandparents’ kitchen in East London.
“My gran, Poppie, would get me involved in baking and preparing family meals. Sharing food was a big part of our time together, and those memories have stayed with me.”
That same feeling of family and home is still at the heart of La Cuccina today.
🍴 From family kitchen to Cape Town favourite
Today, La Cuccina has two locations — at Josephine Mill in Newlands and the Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch — offering everything from harvest tables and home-style ready meals to cakes, catering and corporate lunches.
Their philosophy is simple:
Feed people well. Make them feel welcome.
Whether you're grabbing lunch, picking up dinner after a busy day or planning an event, La Cuccina aims to take the stress out of food while delivering the quality and generous portions their customers have come to love.
💪 A journey of resilience
One of Ian's biggest milestones isn't simply opening another store — it's surviving COVID.
After closing three businesses and coming close to losing their home, Ian describes having the courage to open at the Baxter Theatre as a defining moment in the La Cuccina journey.
Today, the business continues to grow, with ready meals and corporate catering allowing La Cuccina to reach even more customers.

The next chapter is all about sustainable growth.
La Cuccina is looking to expand its ready-meal and corporate catering offering, explore suitable retail opportunities and make ordering even easier for customers — all while keeping the food, service and personal touch that make the business special.
