Hello peeps!

So tomorrow's Good Friday, which means:
- Hooray public holidays!
- Hooray Easter vibes!
- Hooray Chocolate bunnies!

But we're Greek, and our Easter is only next weekend, which means:
- Hooray Greg's is open on Good Friday!
- Hooray every other shop is closed except us!
- Hooray profit!

So yeah, if you feel like some souvlaki tomorrow, you know where to go.

Unless of course you're proper fasting, in which case, no meat for you.

Sad emoticon.

But we do have vegetables and stuff! So come anyway!

Ok cool.

Wishing you love over the festive season,
Gina & Greg

Dearest patrons! :D

Please note that tomorrow (Tuesday the 31st March) we will be switching off our grill from 17h30 onwards for some routine maintenance on our extraction fan.

Our shop will still be open until our regular closing time of 20h00 - except we won't be selling any souvlaki during that period.

So if you just need smokes or a cooldrink (or a hug), we'll be there.

Sweet :)

Hello friends!

If you happened to visit our shop today, you would have found this beautifully crafted hand-written note plastered on our front gate.

Sorry for the inconvenience! :'(

But when we re-open we'll be sure to charge you all double to make up for our lost day :D

Lots of love,
Greg & Gina

We're all about healthy eating - so here's a photo of our Greek salads, which we're selling for just R24 each! :D

Oh, and please ignore the fact that these salads are resting on boxes of ci******es. It was a last minute photo.

But if it makes you feel better, you can pretend these ci******es were confiscated from teenagers that we caught smoking outside our shop.

That's complete nonsense of course.

We know smoking is bad. In fact, a recent survey showed that smoking is one of the leading causes of statistics.

Ja ok.

Greek Salad.

R24.

Do it.

Dear customers, friends, stalkers, and the NSA.

We be closing for the holidays yo. We made a sign and everything.

So ja we felt like a break hey. The trials and tribulations of expanding our global souvlaki empire have taken their toll on us, and a brief respite is in order.

Fully.

Ok so we'll be switching off the grill from 5pm today - but we'll still be around doing some admin and cleaning until 8pm, so feel free to pop in for a high five and to give us your money for no damn reason.

We shall open again on Friday the 2nd of Jan. If you need souvlaki before then, sucks to be you!

We wish you the warmest regards over the festive season, and try to not get yourselves killed in the new year's eve chaos. But if you plan on doing so, please remember us in your will.

So turns out there was a massive beer festival this past weekend right across the road from us at SAB. As a result, we had lots of hapless drunkards wombling in to our shop asking us for booze.

Now don't get us wrong; we love hapless drunkards - particularly on Newlands rugby days - since they're usually very hungry, and they also have this strange sense of trust when it comes to ordering their meal (which usually goes along the lines of them just handing us their wallets and saying "here please take what you need I can't figure it out").

Fools!

Anyway, in honour of all things brewed (and because we really want to be like all the other cool kids in Newlands), we've decided to start selling beer!

But there was a catch: we ain't got no liquor license! :'( Although who needs a liquor license when you're selling this awesome 0.0% alcohol beer instead!?

Genius.

For those of you who haven't heard of it, it's called "Bavaria", and so next time you pop in to our shop for a meal, you can pretend to order beer, we'll pretend to sell you beer, you can pretend to drink beer, and then we can all pretend to be friends.

Or, you know, just rock up drunk, and we'll "take care of you".

Congratulations to Western Province for defeating the Lions in this weekend's Currie Cup Final!

We did our part by feeding some epic souvlaki to local supporters in blue and white (the colours of Greece!). The Lions supporters on the other hand were fed dodgy off-cuts and table-scraps.

(We're just kidding. We love you too, Lions supporters. (Unless you stop buying our souvlaki (One-conditional love.)))

Also a big shout-out and congrats to our Greek hero Demetri Catrakilis for his instrumental performance in the game! Top point scorer and man of the match! May Zeus continue to bless your boots.

Have a rad week everyone! :D

Sensational Souvlaki by day, Phenomenal Photoshop by night!

Yeah so this funny Kit-Kat advert involving an abandoned billboard was doing the rounds on the internet yesterday... and in typical Greg's fashion, we figured we'd jump on that bandwagon and have some fun with it.

Ok so how about a special then...

Buy one Souvlaki, and we'll throw in a Kit-Kat for the standard price of a Kit-Kat!

Great!

(Wait a sec, do we even sell Kit-Kats? (Ok apparently we're out of stock of Kit-Kats (But we'll get some more (Whatever just pop in anyway (it's not about the Kit-Kat people! (yes we counted the brackets))))))

Dearest patrons of our finest establishment!

(Howzit customers of Greg's!)

We wish to inform you of the latest addition to our delicatessen.

(We're selling something new, bru.)

Introducing "Walker's Toffee" - an award-winning sweet of British import.

(We're talking like proper, legit toffee.)

Walker’s was founded in the late 19th century. They are one of England’s finest and oldest makers of traditional toffee, and are proud to be one of the few companies left in the sweet industry who are family owned, and independent.

(Cool story bro. We're also independent and family owned. So there.)

Walker’s Toffee has been amongst the many gifts sent to the Royal Family, in particular the Queen Mother.

(And since the Queen is married to Prince Phillip - who is Greek, and who probably chowed lank souvlaki whilst growing up in his home town of Corfu - the synergies between Walker's Toffee and Greg's Souvlaki are clear.)

Did you know: Walker's Toffee is a great source of energy and has been taken in the backpacks of explorers and mountaineers since the early part of the Century.

(In other words, if you need an energy boost, come try out our new toffee. Alternatively, ask Greg to high-five you in the face, as that'll wake you up too.)

Ok sweet.
