It is a sad day. Café Blouberg has closed down permanently.
Almost twenty years ago, on 20 August 2000, we acquired Café Blouberg from our landlord and we have operated this beautiful, community café on the water’s edge in Bloubergstrand since then. Over the years, it celebrated many birthdays, get-togethers and will forever be remembered by the owners and the patrons to whom this café has become an institution.
During the Covid-19 lockdown, we were informed by our landlord that they have decided not to extend our 20-year lease and that they wish to take the property back for residential occupation. We fully respect that decision, but we are saddened to close down our beautiful café.
To our staff, we are saddened to see you go. To those who have been with us for almost twenty years – we will never forget your smiles and the ups and downs of the restaurant business.
To our suppliers, we salute you and you remain part of our commercial destiny.
From this modest café, the Seascape Collection expanded to On The Rocks and Ons Huisie. The lessons learnt at Café Blouberg has stood us well.
Our patrons are invited to “The Hatch” at On The Rocks which will be serving your favourite chicken-cheesecake and all the delectable eats for which Café Blouberg has become known over the years. Please join us to continue to celebrate these dishes which can now be purchased at “The Hatch”.
We wish our landlords well into the future and all our staff who will be finding new opportunities.
