Mid-June. Peak winter in Cape Town. โ๏ธ
Running this bakery for 5+ years gives you a strange kind of window into people's lives โ through their orders.
In summer, I see double and triple cake orders rolling in. Big parties, 20+ people, celebrations stacking up one after another.
In winter? Smaller cakes. Quieter weeks. Less "let's throw a massive party" energy and more "let's just enjoy the season slowly."
Honestly, it's a reflection of where I am too. ๐ค
This past week was actually one of my slowest in years.
Instead of spiralling about it, I just sat with it. This is the season. This is where the business is right now. And that's okay.
This week things have already started picking up again.
We just launched something exciting โ our brownie boxes now ship anywhere in South Africa. ๐ฆ๐ซ
First nationwide order already came through โ a Red Velvet White Chocolate box heading off soon. I can't wait to see it land somewhere new.

On a personal note โ my family flew in from Switzerland and Cape Town is currently full of people I love.
Slow winter days. Good company. A business that's quietly building toward something bigger. ๐ค
Here's to school holidays bringing a few more celebrations our way, and to trusting the season for what it is. ๐ง๏ธ๐
