Meet Dr Lee Ming, a 57-year old medical doctor who packed a bicycle in Beijing in 2024 and has been pedalling towards South Africa ever since.

Betty’s Bay was not part of his plan. He rolled in, bumped into explorer and local Riaan Manser Explorer, and ended up spending the night with the Mansers. Breakfast the next morning was at Coffee, On Clarence, which is how we met him. Many of our guests were soon interested in meeting him and hearing his stories.

Beijing to Betty’s Bay by bicycle: about 24,000 km. And he is still on the road. Oh, the people we meet and the stories we hear! 😁🚲🇨🇳

We’re always happy to welcome the crew members of Delta Air Lines to Coffee, On Clarence. Today was an extra special occasion.

Tomorrow, Captain Tom Mackie will make his final flight as they leave Cape Town for Atlanta. After 39 years as a commercial pilot, Captain Mackie will be hanging up his captain’s cap. 👨‍✈️

We asked him if it was an emotional moment and he replied, “I’ll miss the layovers…”

We’re thrilled you chose us as one of the stops on this last layover. 🥹

Have a safe final flight home, and thank you for the many miles spent reuniting people safely. ✈️🇺🇸

Today’s baked cheesecake is a Limited Edition, not to be repeated: Dubai Chocolate! 👌

We were spoilt by good friends Philip and Sonelia, who live in Dubai, on their last visit to South Africa. They brought us a box of chocolates from the original FIX Dessert Chocolatier, the makers who made the Dubai treat world famous.

We asked our baker to use some of the bars in today’s cheesecake. It is a combination of crispy knafeh, pistachio and chocolate with our signature cheesecake recipe. 😋🍰

Our second flavour today is Tiramisu - so delicious!
