After an incredible weekend with our Soul Night and Paint & Sip, we’ve been thinking…

What else do you lot want us to put on at the H&J?

Our 2027 diary is already filling up nicely, but we’d love a few ideas from the people who actually come through the door.

Is there something you’d love to see here? A certain band, tribute night, comedy, another themed night, quiz night… anything really.

Drop your ideas below. If enough of you shout for the same thing, we might just have to make it happen.

Been a full on weekend so far… so Sunday can be the easy one.

No roast. No gravy. No mountain of washing up.

Just good food, cold drinks and Abi O’Meara with us from 4pm.

Inside or out, grab a table, get comfy and let us sort Sunday for you.

Soul night — that’s one we definitely have to book again!…. Round two anyone?

Tonight Undercover Groove are live Under Canvas from 6pm.

Great live music, the grill going, drinks flowing and that brilliant Under Canvas atmosphere we’ve quickly become known for.

Well Soul Night was another winner…

What a night. Under Canvas was absolutely buzzing, every table full and plenty of dancing going on.

And after that turnout, we’re making Soul Night a monthly feature.

But we’re not done with this weekend yet…

Tonight Undercover Groove are with us from 6pm, so if you’ve still not done a Saturday evening Under Canvas, this might be the one.

Good food, a few drinks, live music and another cracking Saturday at the H&J.

Behind the dish today… Beyti.

This one actually comes with a proper story.

Beyti takes its name from Beyti Güler, a Turkish restaurateur whose family opened a tiny four-table restaurant in Istanbul back in 1945.

Over the years, his way of preparing and serving grilled meat became famous, and the Beyti took his name.

Today you’ll find different versions all over Turkey, but the idea remains much the same — so what is it?
beautifully seasoned grilled meat, wrapped in flatbread, sliced and served with yoghurt and tomato sauce.

A dish that started in one little Istanbul restaurant and ended up becoming a Turkish classic.

It’s Wednesday… which means we can start showing off a little about what we’ve got lined up for you this weekend.

And we’ve got a good one.

Friday night we’re kicking October off with our Soul Train Night from 9pm — plenty of old skool RnB tunes and a proper Friday night atmosphere.

Saturday afternoon we’re hosting our very first Bubbles, Brushes & Banter, then at 6pm Undercover Groove take over the stage Under Canvas.

And Sunday, Abi O’Meara makes her debut with us from 4pm to round the weekend off.

Three very different days, loads going on and another weekend where there’s always something happening at the H&J.

If you’ve been meaning to come and see what we’ve been up to lately… this weekend would be a pretty good place to start. Food served all weekend from 12 noon till 9pm.
