Jamie is continuing his food journey and building on his growing range of tastes! This time, he enjoyed a delicious mix of tomato, onions, minced beef, and spaghetti...his very own mini spaghetti bolognese 🍝✨
After exploring single-ingredient foods over the past few weeks, Jamie is now ready to experience more variety by combining flavours , and it’s safe to say, he absolutely loved it!
As little ones become more confident with eating, it’s a great time to introduce slightly coarser or lumpier textures, as long as they’re ready. It’s all part of developing their skills and enjoying new food experiences 😋🍴

Children’s fluid needs change depending on their age, activity levels and even the weather, making hydration an important part of supporting their energy, digestion and overall wellbeing 💧☀️
From milk feeds in the early months to encouraging regular sips of water as they grow, building good hydration habits early really matters.
On warmer days, remember to:
• Offer drinks regularly
• Keep water within easy reach
• Encourage small, frequent sips
Hydration doesn’t just come from drinks either, foods like watermelon, cucumber, yoghurt and homemade ice lollies can all help keep children cool and refreshed 🍉🥒
Keep an eye out for signs of dehydration such as dark urine, dry lips or tiredness, and gently remind little ones to drink throughout the day ❤️

Jamie’s first try of pineapple started with curiosity and ended in a firm no. And honestly? That’s such a normal part of weaning! 🍍
Food is still completely new... new tastes, textures, smells. It can be a lot for little ones to take in.
What really matters in moments like this is, staying calm, no pressure, and letting them explore in their own time!
A “no” today doesn’t mean “no” forever. It’s all part of the journey ✨

A simple tweak can make a big difference at mealtimes 👶✨
A supportive seating position (especially with a footrest) can help your baby feel more secure, reduce fidgeting, and stay comfortable for longer. It also supports those all important hand to mouth skills for self-feeding 🙌
Better posture = better focus, better control, and happier mealtimes 💛
If your highchair doesn’t have an adjustable footrest, try adding some temporary support so they can rest their feet for additional support when eating.

Starting your weaning journey and wondering what your little one’s food should look like? We’ve got you 💛
Whether you’re a parent at home or an early years professional supporting babies in your setting, knowing how to prepare age-appropriate foods can feel overwhelming at first.
Purees and mashed foods 🥕🍌
Purees should be thick but smooth, no lumps at first. Small soft lumps can gradually be introduced as soon as baby is developmentally ready. Gradually increase the lumpiness of the food over time until it resembles the mashed texture shown here.
Finger foods 🥑🥦
Fingers foods can also be offered from 6 months. Finger foods are pieces of food, roughly the length of an adult index finger. They should be soft enough for a baby to bite through with their gums. Remove skin, pips, seeds and any stringy bits from the foods.
Need a little extra guidance? Our week-by-week weaning support is here to help make the journey simple, confident, and enjoyable for all ✨

Weaning doesn’t need lots of gadgets or expensive kit. Our advice it to keep it simple, practical and wipe clean! ❤️
Our top 3 weaning essentials include…
⭐️ Small soft, flexible, easy to grip spoons that are gentle on little gums
⭐️ Non- breakable bowls and plates
⭐️ An open top cup to help your little one learn to sip
Remember, weaning gets messy and that’s the way we like it! Mess is fun and a great way for little ones to explore their food with all their senses. Suction bowls and plates, wipe cleans bibs, high chairs and mats to cover the floor can be useful and may help to embrace the mess and the fun that comes with weaning!
Did you know that, from 6 months onwards, weaning equipment can be washed in hot soapy water or the dishwater and no longer needs to be sterilised? (Please note baby’s bottles should always be sterilised) 🍼

It’s Jamie’s first week of exploring food, and he’s been getting stuck into a rainbow of veggies! 🥦🥬
Research shows that offering vegetables as first foods can improve food acceptance later on (up until the age of 2 years). Some examples of suitable vegetables which are ideal first foods include: broccoli, green beans, avocado, kale, courgette, cabbage, runner beans, and spinach.
