Right at the top of Vietnam, in the shadow of the Lung Cu flag tower, sits one of the north's most charming villages. 🏘️
Lo Lo Chai is home to the Lo Lo, one of Vietnam's smallest ethnic groups. Rammed earth houses, terracotta roofs and stone walls give it a calm that feels a world away from the busier stops on the Loop.
It has quietly become a favourite for an overnight stay, with warm homestays in old village homes and a well loved cafe, one of the northernmost in the country. Sunrise coffee with the flag tower in view is hard to beat.
And the culture runs deep, from the vivid embroidered clothing to the bronze drums and songs kept alive across generations. Stay the night and you feel it in the food and the welcome.
Just below Lung Cu, it is the perfect place to pause at the edge of the map.
