We are FIVE WEEKS OLD 🥳

31 Cornish Cross (and one stowaway mystery breed) have officially hit the 5 week mark.
🤞 Per usual we have had zero issues with predators, disease, or other spontaneous chicken death.
These birds are raised on zero BS- pond water, fresh grass, fresh bugs, and non medicated feed….just the “Bair Essentials.”

In three or four more weeks they will be vacuum sealed and in the freezer.

*Side note….eggs available daily for $5/dozen. Let me know if you’re in need! 🥚 🥚 🥚

32 birds officially moved from the brooder to the tractor yesterday. I’m happy to report that all 32 were on their feet this morning!

From here, in addition to their water and feed, they will have access to bugs and fresh grass as the tractor gets moved daily 8’ at a time for the next 5 weeks until they fully mature.

One of the oddities of being a parent is recognizing the moments when your kids have changed. What was cool is now lame, what was delicious is now gross, what fit great is now too tight…the list goes on.

Having meat chickens is THOSE moments on hyperdrive!

The fluffballs are gone, and now we have these baby dinosaurs!

Roughly 6 more weeks until they’re ready for the freezer.

All 32 chicks are still with us and are THRIVING. 💪

It’s always wild to see how much they eat and how fast they grow.

In a few weeks, their feathers will transition and they will move outside. This process may happen sooner than later if the garage starts to smell 😂

In addition to having eggs available daily….

today we welcomed 32 Cornish Cross chicks to the brooder! These little puffballs will be full grown and freezer ready in about 9 weeks.
