Owner Amanda Jackson began growing and harvesting oysters in the York River alongside grower Tommy Leggett in 2010. Amanda decided she wanted to give back after doing oyster restoration work in the Chesapeake Bay. Amanda began growing oyster to both bring the taste of oysters to locals well as to give back to the ecosystem of the bay. Then in 2015 Oysters Rock born and in April of 2015 became an LLC. Oysters Rock has oysters available at wholesale purchase for retailers and distributors. Oysters Rock also has promotes oyster education by way of special events, where individuals are invited to try oysters in different ways while learning about the impact the York River Oysters have on the Chesapeake Bay.
