How do you make fried potatoes for breakfast?
We start with our handy-dandy, time saving, veggie chopper, then transfer them to a old school, 15 inch Griswold cast iron skillet, add bacon grease, and / or lard, some spices and fry till done. By the way - our potatoes are locally grown by Gene Smeltzer in Lower Windsor Township & Rexroth Potatoes in Red Lion.

On Memorial Day, we honor U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces - and remember their families and friends, whose grief continues long after the ceremonies end.

This poem was written after the author witnessed the homecoming of a 23-year-old Marine who had been killed in Afghanistan.

Flags line the streets.
A flag-draped coffin
Taken from the arms of a plane,
A young man, a boy, inside.

Flag-lined streets
Officers in uniforms salute
a black motorcade crawls
through his hometown.
Townspeople line the streets
hands upon hearts.
For a day
he is our son, our brother, our friend,
a soldier known and unknown.
For a day
we watch and bow our heads,
wipe away tears,
for a boy, a dream, a nightmare.

We walk down the flag-lined streets,
pause before heading home,
we speak in hushed tones
searching for fragments of meaning
in the ash of tragedy.
We watch the day
replayed on the evening news,
the flag-draped casket,
the flag-lined streets,
the flags suspended overhead.
We sigh and pray, go to sleep.
Morning brings sunlight
A new day.

Across town
a cavernous silence,
a carefully folded flag,
stacks of newspapers,
unopened envelopes,
the thick perfume of funeral flowers,
the raging surf of sorrow.
Across town
Mourning comes to stay.

Your Instapot's grandma... we're cooking turkey this morning. Twenty-two qt capacity in each, that's what we're talking about!

23 lbs of turkey in each pot, it will be done in an hour and a half. The turkey will fall from the bones, and I will be left with 4 gallons of absolutely beautiful broth for our soups and whatever. That broth is soooo nice, it turns to jello in the fridge overnight!
