🦅 DAY 203 UPDATE: HARD WORK, FULL HEARTS & BIRTHDAY WISHES! 🎂

Another day, another step closer to bringing our beloved Nest back to life.

Today, we rolled up our sleeves and continued the hard work of cleaning and preparing the Nest. Every bit of progress matters, and we’re putting our time, energy, and love into making this place ready to welcome our Nest family home again.

But today was especially meaningful because we’re celebrating the birthday of someone who means the world to us.

Happy birthday to Whitney, the heart, backbone, and mother of the Nest!

After a productive day, we traded our cleaning supplies for a birthday dinner at The Great American Saloon.

Mom, I truly couldn’t have asked for a better mother. You’re my biggest supporter, my constant, and the person I know I can always count on. You give so much of yourself to our family, our staff, and everyone fortunate enough to know you. Much of what you do happens behind the scenes, but none of it goes unnoticed.

And, of course, the furry family knows how lucky they are to have you as their momma and grandmama. From extra cuddles to endless spoiling and unconditional love, the dogs and cats couldn’t ask for anyone better.

These past 203 days have reminded us how much strength, patience, and heart it takes to keep moving forward. The Nest may still be under construction, but its heart has never stopped beating, and Mom, you are such an important part of that heart.

I hope you know how loved, appreciated, and cherished you are, not just today, but every day.

Here’s to another year of love, laughter, and, hopefully, celebrating your next birthday inside our beautiful, rebuilt Nest.

Day 192 Update 🔥

Today’s update is a little bit of the old Nest, a little bit of the new Nest, and a whole lot of table talk. 😂

We picked up our original Eagles Nest tables from Kangaroo, who has graciously been storing them for us through all of this. Carlos, Rick, and Whitney hauled them over to our buddy Dylan’s shop, where they’re officially getting ready for their comeback.

And these aren’t just tables.

They’ve held birthday cakes, anniversary dinners, first dates, family meals, celebrations, heartbreaks, happy tears, way too many appetizers, and probably enough spilled drinks to fill a kiddie pool. 😂

Now each slab will be planed down, refinished, and brought back to life for the new Nest. And let’s just say we may have a few tricks under the table along the way. 👀

The bases are headed back into storage for now, but we absolutely cannot wait to see these beauties back on the table where they belong.

As for permits, we were told the blueprints should be submitted to the township this week. From there, they are estimating about 2 to 6 weeks for the blueprints and permits to make their way back to us.

And once those permits are in our hands, we can finally stop talking about building and actually get down to business.

We know the waiting has been tough. We are just as ready as all of you to see walls going up, tools moving, and this place really start taking shape.

But one thing is for sure.

We are not just rebuilding the Nest. We are giving some of its most loved pieces a second life.

192 days later, and we’re still working hard to make sure the new Nest feels fresh, while keeping the memories that made it home. 🦅❤️

And yes, we promise to keep you posted at the table. 😂

Day 182 Update 🔥

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who supported our staff through every fundraiser after the fire. I don’t think you truly realize what your support has meant to them.

Many of our staff members are working temporary jobs and are not making the same income they were before the fire. Every donation, ticket purchased, meal ordered, and moment you showed up gave them a little extra security during a time when that feeling has been missing for far too long.

The Victory Athletic Association absolutely knocked it out of the park with our final fundraiser. A huge shout-out to Travis and Ron for all of their help bringing in an incredible crowd and putting on such a great show for everyone. We could not be more grateful to them and the entire Victory Athletic Association.

You guys truly mean the world to us. We are still being told December for our reopening, and we cannot wait for the day we get to welcome you back, share a drink, serve you a beautiful meal, and finally feel like our Eagles Nest family is home again. ❤️

Happy Anniversary to my mom and dad, Rick and Whitney. ❤️

From high school sweethearts to building an entire life together, you two have quite literally grown up side by side.

I’ve had the privilege of watching your story through so many different chapters. As parents, individually in your own careers, and eventually together as business owners, you have spent your lives building something bigger than yourselves.

And one of the things that gets me the most is looking around at the people who are still part of that story. Some of the friendships in your lives began when you were just teenagers, and decades later, those same people are still beside you. Watching those relationships grow right along with your marriage fills my heart. Those friendships are so special, and they are such a beautiful reminder that you haven’t just built a life together. You’ve built a whole community around it.

Then came Eagles Nest.

Eagles Nest was already something great and a staple in York when you became part of its story. Instead of trying to change what people already loved, you slowly made it your own. Little by little, year after year, you refined things, added pieces of yourselves, took chances, learned what worked, and built upon the foundation that was already there.

You didn’t just take over the Nest. You truly nested. 😂❤️

And somewhere along the way, it became more than a restaurant. Employees became family. Guests became friends. Regulars became part of our lives. Eagles Nest became another piece of the family you were already building together.

Now, after everything this past year has brought, you get to rebuild it again in an entirely different way.

And as hard as that road has been, there is something incredibly special about knowing that this remodel gives you the opportunity to finally pour even more of your personalities, passions, and vision into the new Nest. I cannot wait to walk through those doors and see pieces of both of you everywhere. After all these years of slowly making it your own, this next chapter gets to be the truest reflection of the two people behind it.

I’ve watched you work long days and late nights, make impossible decisions, celebrate huge wins, get through heartbreaking seasons, laugh when things were completely chaotic, and somehow keep moving forward together.

But through all of those titles and accomplishments, you were always just Mom and Dad to me.

From gymnastics and volleyball to dress shopping, celebrations, heartbreaks, hard times, and every random phone call in between, you have always been there. No matter how busy life became or how much you had on your own plates, I always knew I had two people in my corner.

When I look at everything you’ve created, Eagles Nest is certainly part of your legacy, but it isn’t the most important part.

It’s the family you built.

It’s the friendships you kept.

It’s the people you’ve loved.

It’s the home you gave me.

And it’s knowing that through every version of life, you continued choosing each other.

I think that is what makes a real love story. Not everything being perfect, but building a life together that is worth fighting for, worth rebuilding when things fall apart, and worth continuing to make your own.

Day 177 update 🔥

The latest update we’ve heard is that our architect will hopefully be submitting the blueprints to the township for the final part of permitting this week, or possibly next week. Hopefully, they’ll finally permit us to move forward. See what we did there? 😂

Here are a few pictures of our current look. We’re calling it “construction chic.” Very exclusive. Very industrial. Absolutely no reservations available.

The great news is that we FINALLY got the smoke smell out of the dining room! The kitchen still needs a little more work, so how the tables have turned: the dining room is waiting on the kitchen this time. Hopefully, it won’t be a long ticket! 😂

We miss seeing these rooms filled with food, cocktails, laughter, and all of you. We can’t wait to trade blueprints, permits, and air scrubbers for crab cakes, prime rib, and martinis again! ❤️

Our hearts are broken to hear of the passing of Rick Smith.

Rick was so much more than a regular at Eagles Nest. The moment he walked through our doors, he could light up the entire room. He had a way of striking up a conversation with anyone and making them feel like an old friend.

Rick was also a longtime Realtor in York County with Berkshire Hathaway, and his kindness reached far beyond our restaurant. Whenever he helped someone purchase a new home, he would use his house account to give the new homeowners a meal at Eagles Nest. He wanted to make moving day a little easier by giving them a place to sit down, relax, and enjoy a good meal without having to cook in their brand-new kitchen.

That tradition says so much about the kind of person Rick was: thoughtful, generous, and always looking for a way to take care of others.

Rick, your seat at Eagles Nest will never feel quite the same. We will miss your smile, your stories, and the warmth you brought into every room. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, clients, and everyone in the York community who had the privilege of knowing him. 🤍

He will be missed by so many throughout York County. Our hearts go out to his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. This is truly such a loss for our entire community. 🤍

🔥 Day 164 Update 🔥

Today Rick, Riley, and Whitney got to do something that felt a little bit like the old Eagles Nest again. ❤️

We met our liquor rep Kevin at The First Post for a beautiful meal, some industry talk, and naturally, bourbon. 🥃

For a little while, we weren’t talking permits, construction, or timelines. We were talking about the fun stuff again.

Menus. Pairings. Bottles. The future.

And then Kevin brought up something that REALLY got our attention.

We are exploring the possibility of doing a private barrel selection through Jim Beam or K**b Creek.

If we move forward, we would get to select a bourbon specifically for Eagles Nest based on the flavor profile we want, and that private pick would be available through us.

So bourbon people, we need you. 👀

Day 161 update 🔥

Today Rick and Whitney went to meet with Paragon, the architects who have been working with Warehous on our blueprints.

It seemed like the best way to get everyone in the same room, answer questions face to face, and hopefully avoid some of the back and forth we’ve been dealing with throughout this process.

We’re really hoping today’s meeting helps move things along and gets us one step closer to finally having those permits in hand so the next phase of rebuilding can begin.

On another note, our designer Nicole with Just Create, LLC has been busy working on our bathroom designs, and these are the first two designs she came up with. 👀

Now we really want your opinion, and I mean your ACTUAL opinion.

This is your chance to talk crap about our bathroom before anyone actually has to. 😂

We can take it. If the design is giving porta potty at prom, we need to know now.

Don’t hold it in. This is literally the one time we WANT your bathroom opinions. 😂

Nothing is set in stone yet, and we already know there are a few things we’ll be changing, so now is the time to tell us what you really think. If you love something, tell us. If you hate something, tell us. If something looks like it belongs in a gas station bathroom off 83, PLEASE stop us now. 😂
