Mark your calendars… next week on 8/26 we’re closing out the Music on Main season with the Skyla Burrell Band!

Known for high-energy electric blues, the Skyla Burrell Band brings “sassy, sexy, hard-drivin’ house rockin’ blues with a fuse.” Skyla was born in LA, raised in Orange County, and formed her first band at just 13 — she’s been a working musician ever since, cutting her teeth with bands up and down Southern California before relocating to the East Coast in her early 20s, where she eventually co-founded the band that bears her name.

🎉 ABOUT LAST EVENING AT YARDLEY BOROUGH HALL! 🎉

Gather Place—bringing Black history to Bucks County since 2022—is making history in our hometown!

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who stood up, spoke up and supported our proposal to name the pavilion at Buttonwood Park:

✨ THE MAYOR ROBINSON MEMORIAL PAVILION ✨
The pavilion will honor the late Mr. Edward E. Robinson, Yardley Borough’s—and Pennsylvania’s—first African American mayor.

The evening’s unforgettable moment came when Mayor Robinson’s son, Edward E. Robinson Jr., thanked Borough Council for considering this meaningful tribute. The room erupted in applause, with tears of joy, pride and gratitude! ❤️

Mayor Robinson’s Derry family lineage is deeply connected to Yardley’s historic African Methodist Episcopal Church—established in 1877 and now home to Gather Place—and reaches back to Mary Derry, born in 1790.

We are encouraged by this Borough Council update:
“I am requesting a resolution for the naming from our attorney and will submit it, along with a presentation by you, for the September 1 agenda.”

ONWARD—one step closer! 🎊👏🏾
Our history must never be marginalized, erased nor ignored, It belongs to all of us and deserves to be remembered, honored and shared.
