1 YEAR LATER
At the time, I didn’t have the mental capacity to express much more than total heartbreak, devastation and sadness. And while, I’m still grieving the loss of maker to main & lettuce be local, I share some positivity with you all.
GRATITUDE: thank you hardly seems adequate to the many of you whom I’ve seen this past year. Your genuine care and concern is still such an enormous gesture.
Thank you for your continued support not just for me, but also my team and the farmers and small businesses we supported. The conversations, the kindness, the hugs, the compassion and the vast number of Maker totes in the wild is truly heartwarming.
PROGRESS
By now you may know I landed at the and am honored to play a small part in helping the community.
Jes became a “farmer” & has been promoted already and well on her way to another promotion. Big surprise there right? Well maybe the farmer part. 😅
Kellie, Mary & Travis have significantly expanded their individual artist craft, each of them making huge strides while also balancing work too. 🖌️🎤🎹
Gabe & Sonia can still be seen cranking out soul food at BTs chicken & bbq 🔪🍽️
Billy grew his super powers of leadership, logic and love 10x this year by taking on new roles in the community & food industry and proposed to me. 🥰
While we collectively grieved the loss of maker, we made space to reflect too. We strengthened our relationships and made time for what’s really important - living a fulfilling life.
LOOKING AHEAD
It’s hard not to feel that the loss of maker to main started a ripple in small business closures last year and this year is still looking quite scary for many small biz friends.
I urge you please, please support small businesses. Even when it’s 10• outside, even when it’s easier to have it delivered from Amazon. We’re watching the diversity and uniqueness of our area quickly vanish, the negative economic impact and small businesses, small farms, local restaurants need you more now than they did during the pandemic.
This is not a drill. 🚨
