Collaboration with my cousins butcher shop Johnny’s Food Center in New Fairfield. He made me these Cheese and Parsley Italian Sausages (chevalatta). July 1st, I was just beginning a long-overdue family vacation. Less than two weeks later, on July 13th, I was being transferred from Danbury Hospital to Yale, where I would spend the next 12 days.

Life can change pretty quickly.

But sometimes it takes a hardship to truly see just how blessed you are.

The past few weeks have opened my eyes in ways I didn’t expect. I’ve been blown away by the family, friends, and my amazing staff who dropped everything—while dealing with their own lives and their own challenges—to be there for me and my family.

The calls, texts, visits, prayers, encouragement, and countless acts of kindness meant more than I could ever put into words.

And now, little by little, I’m getting back to the restaurant and back to doing what I love.

Recovery is still a work in progress, and I’m taking it one step at a time. But every one of those steps feels a little different now.

Grateful for my family. Grateful for my friends. Grateful for my staff. Grateful for this life.

Truly blessed. Thank you. ❤️
