Kingswood Golf Club will be aerating the course on Monday and Tuesday, September 14th & 15th. Play for each of those days will be on the opposite side. All tee times during aeration can be booked for those two days ONLY through stopping in or calling the golf shop at (603) 569-3569 (ext 1). There will be NO ONLINE BOOKING FOR THOSE 2 DAYS. Please indicate if you plan on playing 18 holes to the golf shop personnel as we will book another tee time for your group 2 hours later so you can continue your next 9 holes on the same side you played.
Although aeration can affect how you need to putt, it's necessary to assure a high-quality experience throughout the season. By punching the greens, soil compaction is relieved, root growth and air exchange are enhanced, there is less of a chance of water pooling on the greens, and nutrients more easily get into the soil. Our crew punches very small holes and top-dresses.
When putting on aerated greens, you will miss more putts than usual. It's just part of the game, and you have to accept it before teeing off. Here are a few tips on how to putt on an aerated green:
Remember this—as the ball slows down, the aeration marks affect the roll more. If it's less than a 5' putt, hit the back of the cup (faster speed, play less break)
If it's more than 5' putt, trickle the ball just over the front edge (slower speed, play more break). By doing this, you'll still give yourself a chance to make some, but won't have the pressure of knocking in a 3-footer on every hole!
