Thank you for posting this. I never thought that i needed to worry about the counterfeit 100$ around the lake
Well, this is truly an unfortunate event.
As you can imagine, a large counterfeit bill can make a big impact on a local, small business so we are frustrated to share that one of our vendors received a counterfeit $100 bill in the last couple of weeks.
This may not be a one-off event, so we wanted to make sure our community is aware as well.
Additionally, we are leaving it up to each vendor whether they will accept larger bills going forward as it is a risk to their livelihood when counterfeit bills are used. Therefore, we advise our patrons to bring smaller bills when able or to use electronic payments as needed.
If you need to make a purchase by credit or debit card and a vendor does not accept those forms of payment, please know you can stop by the Market Manager tent to run your card for an exchange of market tokens. These tokens act as cash at the vendors and never expire.
Thank you for working with us to create as positive an atmosphere for our vendors and patrons as possible.
