One of the things I’m most proud of is knowing exactly where our beef comes from.

It all starts at our family farm, where our cattle are raised with care and a commitment to quality. Once they’re ready, our beef is processed at Legacy Maker Farms before making its way to kitchens like Roots and onto tables throughout our community.

Being part of that process gives me an appreciation for the work that goes into every meal. It’s not just about raising cattle or cooking food…it’s about the people behind it all.

That’s one of the reasons I enjoy cooking lunch for our farm team every day. Sharing a meal is a simple way to thank the people who work hard to keep this place running, and today burgers were on the menu. It’s our way of saying thank you for everything they do!

Every time you enjoy a meal at Roots, you’re supporting more than just a local restaurant. You’re supporting local agriculture, local partnerships, and the hardworking people who make it all possible. Thank you for being part of that story.

Get to know Chef Keith!

Keith began his culinary journey in the restaurant industry over 20 years ago. After discovering his love for cooking, he worked his way through professional kitchens in West Lafayette, eventually joining Bistro 501, where he spent 10 years growing from Pantry Chef to Sous Chef and ultimately Executive Chef.

After expanding his experience as a private chef and working with country clubs and large scale culinary operations, Keith joined Roots in 2018 as Executive Chef. What began as a career in the kitchen also led him to founder Amber, where the two built not only a business, but a family. Since then, Keith has helped refine and elevate the menu while honoring the family recipes and traditions that have become staples of the restaurant.

Today, Keith serves as co-owner of Roots alongside his father in law, Brian Furrer and continues to lead the kitchen, mentor our team, and bring new ideas to the table all while staying true to the quality and hospitality that Roots is known for.

This is just the beginning. Going forward, you’ll be hearing more from Chef Keith as he shares stories from the kitchen, highlights seasonal dishes, and gives you a behind the scenes look at life at Roots!
