One of the many types of traditions a County Fair provides… experiences memories, and traditions passed along through family and friends…
ITS CLASSIC 🫶🏼🌟🐮🎡🤍🐣🎠

It's Fair week. They are watching.

Sometimes, in the middle of the busy fair week with all the shows, the ribbons, the animals, the entries, the hard work, the late nights, the early mornings, the excitement...we forget about the little eyes watching from the sidelines.

Do you remember being the one watching?

Standing along the rail and thinking about the day it would finally be your turn. Watching the older kids and adults and dreaming about being just like them someday.

Now, we are the ones being watched.

They are watching us in the show ring.
They are watching us in the barns.
They are watching how we celebrate a win and how we handle a loss.
They are watching how we speak to one another, how we lend a hand, and how we treat the people around us.

And they are learning.

That little one peeking over the rail today may be dreaming about the day they are finally old enough to wear that 4-H shirt and walk into the show ring themselves.

Someday, that 4-H member may become a Junior Fair Board member. Then a 4-H advisor, a volunteer, a parent, a committee member, or even a Senior Fair Board member.

That's how traditions continue.
One generation watches the one before it, falls in love with the Portage County Randolph Fair, and eventually becomes the generation showing the next one what it means to be a part of the fair.

We pray they grow to love this fair as much as we do.
That they see more than ribbons and trophies.
That they see hard work, kindness, sportsmanship, friendship, service, and a community that makes this fair something truly special.

Because what they see right now matters.

So this fair week, remember...

They ARE watching.
So, let's give them something worth watching.
Something worth learning from.
And most of all, something worth dreaming about.

The future of our fair may just be standing on the other side of that rail.
