Got up this morning and wenr straight to planting. We managed to get 200 chilis transplanted this morning. Now off to pick up some fruit trees to put in the tunnel. Jo Costion and ashokola gardens have been very succesful planting trees in a tunnel. So we will copy what they have done and hopefully have similar success.

The first planting in the big tunnel is happening now . First five beds have been broadforked and shaped. Now the chilis are going in. Whoo hoo.

If farming in norrhern high deserts of Az isnt challenging enough, we just found out we now have a protected species of.bird on the farm. The burrowing owls and their habitat are protected under Az State Law. It is illegal to disturbed them and thier habitat. Just great. One of thier dens is in our tomato greenhouse.

Just finished installing the overhead sprinklers in the new tunnel. Next up we will seed the grass and sun h**p. Then we will seed the watermelon, beets, and prepare the beds for the chili pepper plants

This might explain the power outage in Dilkon, Az. I don't think power.poles are.supposed to have a 60 degree lean to them. Hopefully somebody has called the utility company. This is a severe fire hazard and danger to the public. The utility company needs to have all hands on deck to get this fixed.immediatly

Shade cloth installed on the big tunnel, new permanent beds being created and the first rattle.snake appeared.today. unfortunately we dispatch of the rattlesnakes here because they tend to curl up in the dog houses and hide in the crops thus creating a potential life-threatening situation for us and the animals here on the farm.

The day has come. After 3 1/2 years of constructruction, some set backs, plain crazy weather and full time farming, the main greenhouse is ready to be covered. This has been a labor of love and a big source of frustration and lots and lots of cuss words. still some cosmetic work needs to be done but we are probably a week away from planting the first crop in this behemoth of a greenhouse.
