As we close the chapter on Veterans Subs today, I want to take a moment to thank the people who stood beside me every step of the way, my family and friends.

To my wife, thank you for your tireless hard work, your patience, and your strength. You wore so many hats, gave up weekends, and kept everything moving behind the scenes even when it wasn’t easy. This shop wouldn’t have made it as far as it did without your unwavering support.

To Andrew, thank you for sharing your knowledge, your time, and your work ethic. From the early planning stages to helping us get through some tough spots, you were always there, and I’m proud of what we built together. I am sorry things didn't work out as we had planned.

And to June, my incredible mother-in-law… there are no words that truly capture what you meant to this shop. You didn’t have to be here, but you chose to be every day, with a warm smile and a heart full of kindness. You made such a genuine impact on our customers and on us. You loved this place, and more importantly, you loved the people who walked through our doors. Your energy, your joy, and your generosity created something special that we’ll never forget. We are so thankful and so proud to have had you by our side.

Today marks the final day of service at Veterans Subs.

As we close our doors, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who walked through them—whether it was for a quick lunch, a family meal, a chat about service, or just to show support. You became more than customers; you became our community, our neighbors, and our friends.

This journey has been filled with hard work, pride, and a deep appreciation for those who supported our mission—especially our fellow veterans and their families. Your kindness, loyalty, and encouragement kept us going, and we’ll always be grateful for the memories made inside these walls.

Today, we remember D-Day.

On June 6, 1944, thousands of brave Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy to fight against tyranny and reclaim freedom. The courage, sacrifice, and unity shown that day changed the course of history.

We honor the heroes who gave everything—and those who carried the weight of that day with them forever.

We will never forget.

Important Announcement from Veterans Subs

After three amazing years, Veterans Subs will be closing our doors on June 28th.

We want to sincerely thank everyone who supported us — from our loyal customers to the incredible local community that made this journey so special. Your kindness, feedback, and smiles have meant everything.

It’s time for us to move on to new opportunities, but we’re not going far — we’re still part of this town and look forward to seeing you around.

As a special send-off, Murphy's Bluegrass Bandits will be playing here on June 14th from 12–2pm. Come out to enjoy some great music, share some laughs, and help us celebrate the good times.

"John, the owner of Veteran Subs and a proud Army veteran, serves up some of the best subs in Wi******er. His "Cannonball" and "Nuke" subs are my personal favorites but what truly sets this place apart is the outstanding level of customer service and the sense of community it fosters.

I'll never forget a moment that really stood out to me: I had called in a lunch order for my daughter, who was at the daycare next door. That day, the daycare made an unexpected decision to close early, and my daughter had to go to a different daycare where they couldn't provide lunch. Without hesitation, John kindly took it upon himself to walk over and personally deliver her meal. That small act of kindness meant the world to me.

This is exactly why supporting local, veteran-owned small businesses matters. It's about more than just great food, it's about respect, community, and showing up for one another.

John, thank you sincerely for your military service and thank you for your continued kindness and excellent service. It does not go unnoticed and is deeply appreciated"
