Hi friends! The weather is (finally) looking like Summer! This June, to begin our 2025 season, we are excited to greet you on Saturdays and Sundays! π₯³
Our hours are limited, for the moment because unfortunately, our everyday normal was flipped upside down recently. A family member passed, leaving myself and my husband caretaking for his family's matriarch, who lives a few hours away. Our family is still struggling to figure out our new normal, and to find good, qualified nursing help in her area. I hope to be able to offer more hours come July and August. But it's never just one thing, is it?
Before this began, I was attempting to get some medical issues resolved during the shops off-season. I'm a very private person. I applaud and envy some of the ladies that own businesses around Central Massachusetts, how they can share their stories and their journeys so openly with their followers. I've never been able to bring myself to be so public about the hardships of making it all work. The reality is, I don't have a small business, I have a micro business. I don't have the support of my spouse, I don't have my parents and siblings nearby to be involved, and I don't have any children old enough to participate meaningfully (PJ tries hard and plans to do more "work" this year! π) It's just me. A mom. A wife. A friend. A woman. And a human, who was born medically complicated. One of the reasons that I don't post about anything too far ahead of time is because I'm always nervous something will come up medically, and there'll be no one to come fill in for me, and I'm just letting people down... like today. Today I was supposed to open for the season at 2pm for friends and family. However, I wasn't able to spend this day enjoying that labor of love. Instead, I woke up not feeling my best, and spent a few hours in Heywoods emergency department. You just never know what's coming around every single corner. I'm happy to be home resting, grateful for having a hospital close by, trying to rally to take PJ to the fireworks later, and ofc doing a little crochet. π§Ά
For the remainder of June, please expect to see PJ's Slush Stop open on Saturdays and Sundays, only. We'll be attempting our opening again tomorrow at 2pm, barring any catastrophes! Stay tuned for updates and additions to those hours for July! I have so many exciting things to share with you this season! If you made it this far, tysm for reading and for letting me share with you all, it doesn't come easily for me to be so open. Please know how much we've appreciated your support thus far. I really do pour my heart and soul into this little shop. π
We hope that you will continue to support our business this year especially, but for all our seasons to come, too! You are what makes the shop special! We could have wound up anywhere, but I'm glad we landed where we did. π
Cheers to a sunny Saturday, finally!
See you soon, friends!
