During its more than 150-year span, the Club has served as the Port City’s hub for entertainment and networking. Newcomers and long-time residents alike continue to develop meaningful relationships within the home’s historic walls. The mansion’s sprawling layout not only includes NUMBER OF SQUARE FEET of social space, but also houses six lavish suites available to members and guests. The Value of Connecting

Did You Know?
The de Rosset Sisters — A Legacy of Grace, Service, and Wilmington History

The portrait that welcomes guests in the City Club foyer features Catherine, Eliza, and Alice deRosset, three of the eleven children of Dr. Armand J. deRosset III and his first wife, Eliza Jane Lord. Their family home — the mansion that is now the City Club of Wilmington — still stands proudly at 23 South 2nd Street.

Catherine Douglas deRosset (1830–1914)
Catherine married Colonel Gaston Meares, who fought in the War with Mexico and later died serving in the Civil War. Together they had six children. Catherine became a prominent civic leader, serving for many years as president of the North Carolina Society of Colonial Dames of America.

Eliza Hill “Lossie” deRosset (1834–1909)
Eliza married Charles Dominick Myers and had eleven children, seven of whom survived to adulthood. Her life reflects both the joys and hardships of 19th‑century Wilmington family life.

Alice London deRosset (1836–1897)
Alice married Major Graham Davis. Their only child died at birth, and Alice devoted much of her life to family and community.

All three sisters are buried in Oakdale Cemetery, incorporated in 1852 by their father and fellow Wilmington citizens — a place that now holds generations of the city’s history.
