Today, on National Personal Chef Day, we’re reflecting on Chef Nery Burgos’ incredible journey as a self-taught chef.

Nery started her personal chef career 22 years ago as a mother, using her kids as taste testers. In 2014, after the tragic loss of her children’s father, she found the willpower to quit her job and focus on her children, providing for them through small catering jobs. That same year, she officially embarked on entrepreneurship. Over the years, Nery launched a shelf-stable sauce in various grocery stores, rebranded and partnered with several restaurants, and even opened her own. With 16 years of acumen in property management and real estate, she honed her marketing skills to target her demographic and customers effectively. The key lesson? Never be afraid to start over, because each time it only gets better.
